You need a permit to get married on the beach...

You may want to consider hiring a wedding planner just to make this easier and less stressful. Try Linda Behling at www.hiltonheadweddings.com. We used to be neighbors. She can give you some ideas and make sure your day is special.

Weather is always an issue with outdoor weddings, especially during tropical storm season. Make sure you have a backup plan!

I had guests stay in my condo a few years ago. They sent me a note after they departed "by the way, we got married on your beach this week!"

Vacation, marriage and honeymoon all rolled up in one!

Good luck!

Congratulations! We usually are on the island in Sept. and the weather is usually perfect, but as Jeff says, you have to be ready for possible rain.

My daughter was married on the island Nov. 24, 2007. (see trip reports for some entries about that day). We chose not to use a wedding planner since it was a small wedding--less than 30--and we had it at the Hilton Head Plantation House. We worked with Artis at Tapas and the buffet was delilcious; signe's bakery--she was able to replicate what my daughter wanted perfectly; A Floral Affair--loved working with the owner. Weddings are expensive but we felt everything was priced fairly, and they gave us great ideas on decorations, etc. that we were able to make from supplies at Michaels. Good luck!

Don't know what your expense account is for the wedding, but the Westin in Port Royal (on the beach) is a gorgeous setting!!!

Also, I own in Shipyard Plantation and I know the beach house can be rented for weddings - it is a lovely location. You would need to have it catered if you had it there as they do not do the food. All they do is rent the beach house.
